Our School

The school has 11 spacious classrooms,  7 smaller resource rooms, a computer room, a parents room and a fine sports hall. The school was re-roofed, insulated and rewired in the last 5 years. In the summer of 2016, two yards in the school were covered in astroturf surface

There was significant refurbishment of infant rooms since 2016 with new furniture, flooring, storage and display facilities.

History

The present school was built in 1959. It replaced an older structure. The sisters of mercy had come to the town in 1850 and had been to the fore in education provision in the parish. The first principal was Sr Peter. In the late 1960s and all through the 1970s  and most of the 80s Sr Patricia Galvin was principal. In September 1987 Sr Lilian O’Kelly came as principal to St Anne’s. She retired in 1998 and was replaced by first lay principal Mrs. Breda Enright. In October 2001. Mrs. Marie Hilliard was appointed principal, a position she held until June 2015. Mrs. Mairead O’Donnell is the current principal.
